Understanding the Dashboard

The Dashboard gives you a quick snapshot of information relevant to your apps’ performance. It is the first thing you access when you login.

a. Logging out

In the top right corner of the screen, you will find your name. To log out, click on the user name and click “Log out”.

b. App Picker

In the top right corner, You will also see the App Picker. It allows you to search and select a specific app in your portfolio, by default, All Apps is selected.

The apps are organised by popularity. Apps that integrate the SDK are sorted by number of active users, Apps that don’t have the SDK are organised by download volume. Test apps that are not tied to live apps are last in the list.

By clicking on the App Picker, you will be able to search and select an app by choosing between :
• Search Field (for a quick search)
• Filter apps by platform (iOS/Google Play)
• Filter Apps by Status (live, test, unpublished)

c. The Top Table

Shows the global performance of all your applications in terms of downloads since their launch, over the last 30 days and over the last 7 days. Both for the Apple App Store and Google Play, the all-time total is calculated as the sum of all the daily new installs on devices.

Hovering over the “Last 30 days” and the “Last 7 days” highlights the relevant period in blue on the chart and gives the percentage increase or decrease in downloads.

 

d. The Top 5 App Performance Table

The default period is 7 days but you can customise this by clicking on the calendar tab in the top right (more information in section e below).

You can also export any of the data to .csv format, the results will be sent to your email. You can do this by clicking on the Export button in the top right corner.

The downloads tab :

Downloads shows your top 5 applications in terms of downloads. For each app, you are given both the performance over the current period (blue) and previous period (grey). As well as the all time downloads on the right.

Clicking on the Downloads arrow (1) will toggle the list to either sort the apps in increasing or decreasing order of performance.

You can also change the time period (2) and export the data to CSV (3) as on the other screens.

 

The Engagements tab :

Engagement shows the top 5 apps in terms of Engagement and gives information about the users’ interaction with the apps. It shows:

• Average Daily Active Users (DAU)
• Number of sessions
• Average session duration

Increases and decreases in engagement are shown with either a red (decrease), green (increase) or grey (no change) dot.

 

The Crashes tab :

Crashes shows the crashes as a percentage over the selected time period. You can see the current version in red as compared to the previous version in grey.

 

 

e. Changing the time period

All performance indicators are compared over periods of time. A 10 day period will compare the past 10 days with the 10 days before that.

By clicking on the period picker, you will be able to modify the reference period by choosing one of :

• the last 7 days
• the last 30 days
• the last 365 days
• a custom time period

Selecting a custom time period :

Select the start date on the left in the From field and an end date on the right in the the To field. Click Apply to refresh the data.

 

 

f. Summary of the Last 10 Comments

The last 10 comments on all your apps from every country where your app is published.

See Section 9 – Popularity for more information on managing comments.

 

 

g. Summary of the Last 10 Campaigns

See the last 10 campaigns you launched and a short report for each one.

Views : number of in-app message views
Sent : number of push messages sent
Opened : number of push messages opened
Reach : number of users targeted

 

 

h. Last 5 submission status changes

Shows the last 5 submission status updates coming from the application stores. If an app has changed status twice recently, only the latest will be displayed.

    • Rejected : Your app or app update was rejected by Apple. It won’t be released in the App Store, you have to connect to iTunesConnect to know why the app was rejected and act accordingly.
    • Waiting for upload : Your team created an app or an app update the binary has to be uploaded on iTunesConnect then be submitted to the Apple Review Team
    • Waiting for review : The app you submitted is now waiting to be reviewed by Apple, they have received the app binary.
    • In Review : The app you submitted is currently in review by Apple
    • Live apps : Apple has approved your app. It is now available on the App Store, ready for sale. Android apps published on Google Play are directly considered as “Live apps” (FollowAnalytics doesn’t take into account beta or draft versions)The button in the top right corner allows you to view the historic statuses of all your applications (1).

 

 

In this view, you can see:

(1) How many of your apps are live on the App Store and Google Play
(2) The average review time
(3) The rejection rate over 3 months
(4) The history of submission statuses for each application

 

 

i. Single App View

It is also possible to view a snapshot of each app. By selecting the app from the App Picker (1), we can easily see all of its information (downloads, engagement, crashes, comments and previous campaigns) on one screen.

In the Engagement section, we can obtain a graphical representation of how many users are using n number of sessions (2) over the time period selected (3). In this view you can also see further information that you cannot see in the All Apps view such as number of Unique Users (4) over the time period.

The comments and previous campaign panels are filtered to show only the ones relevant to the chosen app.
